Who Am I?
I am a 26 year old country girl; born and raised in the city. I am married and have a dog. I love the idea of being wild and carefree, but if I am being honest, I am often dissuaded by my worries, fears and incompetencies. I value family and people and desire to see them refreshed and free. I love music, the outdoors and the promise adventure holds. I find drinking tea and colouring quite therapeutic. Most importantly, I am a child of God; redeemed and free in Christ.
Horses, Horses, Horses
I find horses extremely interesting and am inspired by our relationship with them. I first got my start in the equine industry in my early teen years, riding hunter jumper (classic). I worked my way (via shovelling a lot of poop!) through a myriad of barns. I had the opportunity to ride and work with a large assortment of horses, varying in age, breed, training, temperament and personality. Horse training has always been exciting to me and as I began thinking more deeply about why we do the things we do with our horses, I was amazed to find the truth and honesty horses revealed about people! I had a look into EAGALA and was inspired!
“Most importantly, horses mirror human body language. Many complain, “This horse is stubborn. That horse doesn’t like me,” etc. The lesson is that if they change themselves, the horses respond differently. Horses are honest, which makes them especially powerful messengers.” http://www.eagala.org/Information/Why_Horses
Not only did I find the benefits and impact of people interacting with horses for therapeutic reasons fascinating, I began to see clear parallels arise between the lessons/principles being taught in “natural horsemanship” and my relationship with our Creator.
My Blog
I currently have the privilege of managing a herd of over 40 horses (along with a seasonal petting zoo and small herd of cows). I am excited to share the inspired moments I encounter amongst our herd. I hope you will open your mind and open your heart as we challenge not only our understanding of horsemanship, but of ourselves, those around us and our Creator.
